Maternity Services

  • Patients who have had a positive pregnancy test can self-refer to the maternity unit of their choice*

*Please advise patients that a maternity hospital that is not within their borough may decline the referral if they do not currently have capacity therefore, the patient would have to then book with their own local maternity unit.

  • GP referrals are no longer required.

  • For Guys and Kings College hospital please send the link provided via accuRx to the patient’s mobile for them to access and complete the self-referral.

  • For Lewisham patients have the option of filling out a self-referral form or calling and leaving their details, the midwife will then get in contact with them.

Maternity details are:

  • Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Maternity Services

07787 841 986.

What is ‘safeguarding’ and why is it important to us?

Safeguarding means protecting our patients' health, wellbeing, and human rights; enabling them to live free from harm, abuse, and neglect. It is an integral part of providing high-quality health care.  Safeguarding children, young people, and adults is a collective responsibility.

Those most in need of protection include:

  • Children and young people

  • Adults at risk, such as those receiving care in their own home, people with physical, sensory and mental impairments, and those with learning disabilities.

All staff, whether they work in an administrative role or clinical role have a responsibility to safeguard children and adults at risk of abuse or neglect in the NHS.

Types of abuse may include:

  • Child maltreatment

  • Physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect

  • Sexual exploitation

  • County lines

  • Trafficking

  • Domestic abuse

  • Honour based violence and forced marriage

  • Female Genital mutilation (FGM)

  • Radicalisation and Extremism
